Palace Hotel Moderno

A standard room is pretty small. Bring your own pillow, they are pieces of brick here. Other than that it's great, super clean and quiet. Breakfast is good, cereal, varieties of pastries, order eggs any style, staff is sweet. And of course the location can't be better, it's the center of the city with restaurants and shops all around.

In the heart of Pordenone, this hotel has everything that you could want with excellent service and access to everything in town. The train/bus station is a short walk and there are a ton of storefronts/restaurants/shops within walking distance. Breakfast every morning, turn-down that was fast/clean/thorough, and if you didn't want to go out for dinner - Palace Hotel Moderno had an excellent restaurant. If you are in the area and need a superb hotel experience: look no further. This place has it all!

Staff at front desk were great, very helpful! Obvious language barrier but the definitely spoke better English than I spoke Italian so that was helpful. Hotel is older but right in the middle of thriving businesses. Market on Saturday and Wednesday make it harder to get back to the hotel when it’s on, but I would have liked to have checked it out too.

I had to be at Aviano Air Base for a week on business and wanted a hotel that was both close to the office and also within the city center where shopping and dining options would be more plentiful. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the concierge (Laura C.) who took it upon herself to make my check-in as carefree as possible. She gave me instructions for getting into the parking garage and sent a bellhop downstairs to meet me at the car where my luggage was collected and taken to the room for me while I went back to the front desk to sign my paperwork & collect my key. First of all, if you are a seasoned traveler you can already see the foreshadowing of a great hotel stay. I mean, seriously. This is how it should be done everywhere! I’m not even sure where to begin here, so let’s just start with the Avant-Garde edifice and well decorated lobby. The artwork on the walls, for example, in both the lobby and the rooms, was very pleasing to the eye. Not your normal cheap prints that often look more like Rorschach Tests than intentional artwork. And the room key itself was also a charming token, reminding me of my stay in Venice at the Hotel Paganelli. Also a charmer! The room itself was clean and comfortable with plenty of power outlets from which to choose. I was able to access the back of the TV and install my Amazon FireStick. That’s a HUGE win alone! The bathroom came with a bidet and a glass-enclosed shower that actually did not leak. You see where I am going with this? Like, “Christopher! That already sounds impossibly awesome! I need to stay there, too!” And you do need to stay here. But there’s more to report… So you are probably saying to yourself, “OK, OK. This is where the bad part comes.” But there is no bad part. I was able to order a traditional dry martini and a glass of port for room service and both drinks were simply phenomenal. Such a very-well made martini and, while I did not get the vintage or a look at the bottle, the port was exactly what you would want in an aperitif or digestif. I’m guessing a Lombardi region vine and a mellow three-year aging. The last thing I want to say is how sweet and kind the concierge (again, Laura C!) was when she saw me walking out the door on the penultimate day of my stay at 6:30AM. She told me how sad it had been that I leave so early for work everyday and that I was missing out on a fabulous breakfast buffet. With that, she asked if I wanted an espresso to start my day (and of course I did) and then disappeared off to the kitchen and returned with an absolutely fabulous brew. So helpful and kind, and her English was perfetta. This is the only place I will book in the future when I return. Just an amazing experience from every angle, every detail. I only regret that I cannot offer more stars. Bravo!
